Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy is not one-size fits all, and often looks different for each person. It’s important to adapt therapy to meet what works best for you.

I offer a variety of types of therapy including, but not limited to: Traditional talk therapies such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused CBT (TF-CBT), Motivational Interviewing, Solution Focused and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy.

For some, talk therapy is not effective enough. Many people respond to alternative modalities, which are more experiential, including Rapid Resolution Therapy (RRT), and Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy.

All of my work is trauma-informed and evidenced-based. It often includes addressing shame. According to Brene Brown:

“Shame is the intensely painful feeling or experience of believing we are flawed and therefore unworthy of acceptance and belonging.”

The good thing about shame?

“The bad news is that shame resistance is not possible—as long as we care about connection, the fear of disconnection will always be a powerful force in our lives, and the pain caused by shame will always be real…

…But here’s the great news: Shame resilience is possible, teachable, and within reach for all of us.”

Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapy

IFS is an evidence-based, trauma-informed therapeutic modality. While it is perhaps best known for it’s use in resolving trauma, it is effective with a variety of challenges, symptoms and diagnoses.

Have you ever found yourself having multiple experiences at once? Perhaps saying:

“Part of me feels/thinks/wants _______. But another part ____”?

IFS uses the idea of “parts” and integrating these “parts” to facilitate a greater sense of connection to self, agency over conflicting parts, and create meaningful, lasting change.

Rapid Resolution Therapy (RRT)

Have you ever found yourself struggling with “knowing” something logically, but not feeling or believing it on every level?

Rapid Resolution Therapy (RRT) is a non-traditional form of therapy. It is a combination of conversational and experiential therapy, that can include hypnotic elements, which are aimed to shift things that don’t respond to logic alone.
